This year I am going to participate in a plein air festival for the first time. It made me think about improving my setup - I want to be ready to do my best when time is limited and people are looking over my shoulder.
I have been painting outdoors for many years but never with a large group of people. I have to say it does take some courage and the right set of mind to get outside and paint. I’m particularly nervous about the beginning stage of the painting – in the beginning I do the block in of the major shapes and then the painting is gradually emerges from that. If you happen to look at my work at that initial stage you will not see much – it will look like a complete mess. Oh well, that’s the way it is, I hope you will stop by later as well.
